MADISON, Wis. – Sophomore Carly Grant and senior Michelle Roubik each posted wins to pace the MSOE women's tennis team to its first win of the season, 6-3, over Mount Mary Sunday afternoon at Quann Park.
The Raiders (1-5, 1-2 NACC) opened the day with a 9-0 loss to Edgewood.
Against the Blue Angels (0-4, 0-2 NACC), Grant played in the No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles slots and collected both of her points. In doubles, she paired with senior Brittany Kelley for an 8-0 shutout. Then, in singles, she posted a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 win.
Roubik, who returned to the team Saturday with a pair of wins, won her No. 2 singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Sophomore Riya Chaudhari suffered a tough three-set loss at No. 4 singles, 1-6, 6-4, 11-9.
MSOE claimed three more points by default with no competition at No. 3 doubles and the No. 4-6 singles positions.
Against the defending champion Eagles, the Red & White suffered some tough losses, with a 9-7 decision at No. 3 doubles and a 6-4, 6-2 loss at No. 5 singles for freshman Cali Bonie.
The Raiders played their first six matches in six days, but will have off until next Saturday when they return to action by hosting UW-Stevens Point.
