Women's Tennis Secures Fourth Straight Win

KOHLER, Wis. – The MSOE women's tennis team extended their winning streak to four straight duals on Saturday, as the Red and White reeled in the Muskies of Lakeland University and cruised their way to a 6-1 win, avenging last year's 4-5 loss.

RESULT

MSOE RAIDERS – 6
Lakeland Muskies – 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (6-3, 6-1 NACC) swept the Muskies (1-7, 1-6 NACC) in doubles play, as both the #2 Doubles pair of Delaney Premeau/Stephania Gonzalez and the #3 Doubles pair of Michaela Haensgen/Brenna Sheehan would coast past Lakeland unscathed by a score of 6-0 to secure the doubles point for MSOE.  The Raiders had beaten the Muskies in ten of the previous eleven matchups, and have won 19 out of 24 dating back to 2003.
  • Gabrielle Haensgen and Emily Gutknecht would both win their singles matches without dropping a single game, posting perfect 6-0, 6-0 final scores.
  • Doubles partners Premeau and Gonzalez would both find success in singles play at Sports Core Racquet Club, as Premeau faced little resistance on her way to a win in straight sets (6-1, 6-1), while Gonzalez would also breeze past her Muskie opponent by a score of 6-1, 6-0 to secure another conference win for the Red and White.
