MADISON, Wis. – The MSOE women's basketball team made their first NACC road trip of the season on Saturday as the Raiders fell 56-48 to the Edgewood Eagles.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 48
Edgewood Eagles - 56
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (3-4, 1-1 NACC) got off to a hot start against the Eagles (4-4, 2-0 NACC) going on a 7-0 to start the conference clash, as Mahima Chokshi opened the scoring with a three ball for the Red and White. Edgewood would slowly climb back, making it a one-point game at the end of the first frame, and taking their first lead of the game midway through the second quarter. After a couple free throws from Dani Mendez gave the lead back to MSOE, the Raiders had the Eagles in foul trouble, with Halena Hill and Raekyiah Williams adding points from the charity stripe. The Raiders would lead the Eagles 23-22 after a defensive-minded first half, with Chokshi tallying nine points and six rebounds at the break.
- After a 7-1 Raiders run to open the second half, Edgewood would storm back to retake the lead at the 5:09 mark of the third quarter. After trading lead changes and ties to finish the frame, the Red and White went into the fourth quarter up 41-38 after a buzzer beating jumper from Hill. The Raiders would go ice cold in the fourth quarter, missing six straight attempts as the Eagles took a seven-point lead, 48-41. Chokshi would finally end the drought for the Red and White with another three, but it was too little too late as the Eagles would secure a 56-48 win, despite the Raiders not giving up until the clock showed zeroes.
