Women's Soccer Upsets RV UW-La Crosse in 1-0 Thriller

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's soccer team hosted UW-La Crosse on Tuesday night, as the Raiders upset the Eagles, who are receiving votes in the national poll.  The Raiders would emerge victorious in a back-and-forth thriller, with Elizabeth Kuhn recording the lone goal of the contest.

RESULT
RV UW-La Crosse Eagles – 0
MSOE RAIDERS – 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (9-4-2, 7-0-1 NACC) and UWL (13-2-0, 3-0-0 WIAC) jumped out of the gates with both teams pushing the pace of play, as the Raiders recorded the first five shots of the game.  Elizabeth Kuhn would put MSOE up 1-0 at the 24:45 mark, as the senior deked out Eagles defenders left and right on the way to an unassisted goal.  UWL would up their urgency as the half drew to a close, but Page Sanchez stopped both Eagle shots she racked up ten total saves, with the teams going to the halftime break with MSOE ahead 1-0.
  • The Raiders did not let up on the offensive end in the second half, pushing the Eagles as they exerted pressure all evening long, up-and-down the pitch.  Despite the tremendous efforts from the Red and White, they were unable to find the back of the net the rest of the way.  It proved to be irrelevant as Alexis JamiolaSamantha Shaver and the entire MSOE backline held firm, as Reagan Burkemper and company held off the final push from the Eagles to cheers of the Viets Field faithful.  The Raiders picked up their fourth win in a row, improving to 6-1 at Viets Field as they draw closer to their NACC Championship rematch with Illinois Tech.
