MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's hockey team fought all the way through as they took #11 Trine University to overtime before eventually falling in shootout.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
#11 Trine - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both offensives looked to strike early as Trine (5-1-1, 4-0-1 NCHA) outshot MSOE (4-2-1, 3-1-1 NCHA) 14 to 10. It wasn't until near the end of the period for the first goal as the Thunder took one in for the 1-0 lead. The lead didn't last long as the Raiders went on a power play immediately after and scored 34 seconds later as Seth Bernard snuck one past after receiving it in the middle from Cole Beilke to tie the game at one at the first break.
- The Thunder opened the scoring back up in the second period as they scored 2:56 in to make it 2-1. Coming out of a powerplay opportunity with 7:13 remaining in the period, Gramm McCormack rifled one in that tip up off the Thunder goaltender into the back of the net to tie the game at two. Things slowed down for the remainder of the period as they remained tied at two.
- The Raiders outshot the Thunder in the third period 10-7 as neither team could capitalize as they headed into an overtime period. Austin Schwab was stout in between the pipes, glove saving both shots on goal the Thunder took while Rylan Jockims got the lone shot on goal that couldn't make it past. In the shootout, the Thunder scored on their first two while the Raiders couldn't convert to fall.
