HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (14-6-2, 10-1-1 NACC) jumped out in front of Illinois Tech (19-1-1, 12-0-0 NAAC) less than five minutes into the game, with Claire Bradford making the most of a Scarlet Hawk error, chipping in the first goal of the game to put MSOE ahead against the No. 1 team in the conference. The Scarlet Hawks would score the equalizer at the 25:29 mark, converting on a penalty kick opportunity to knot things up at 1-1. With under eight minutes to play in the first half, Illinois Tech added their second goal of the afternoon, sending the Red and White to the halftime break trailing by a goal.
- The Raiders had a chance to tie things up with an early corner kick in the second half, but the Scarlet Hawk defense didn't break. Illinois Tech would in turn add their third goal of the game on a corner kick play of their own just two minutes later, going up 3-1 with just over 35 minutes left to play. MSOE saw a shot on goal from Kit Gormley saved at the 56:58 mark of the second half, as the Scarlet Hawks held the Raiders without a shot the rest of the way, as Illinois Tech secured back-to-back conference titles.
