Women's Basketball Drops Conference Clash to WLC

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The MSOE women's basketball team clashed with their crosstown rivals on Wednesday night, as the Raiders went toe-to-toe with the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran.  The Red and White would come up just short, dropping their third conference game of the season after a fourth-quarter surge from the opposition.

FINAL SCORE

MSOE RAIDERS – 54
Wisconsin Lutheran College - 59

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (12-5, 7-3 NACC) worked their way to a 12-5 lead over WLC (13-5, 9-1 NACC) just after the midway point of the first quarter following a layup from Halena Hill.  The Warriors would claw their way back to close the quarter, with the Raiders holding a 14-13 lead to close the opening frame.  The Warriors would take their first lead of the contest after their second make of the second quarter, trading the lead back-and-forth with the Raiders until the break, with WLC leading 21-19 after the first half.
  • After a layup from Dani Mendez tied the game up on the first MSOE possession of the second half, the Warriors would go on a 9-0 run to take a 30-21 lead over the Red and White.  The Raiders would immediately go on a run of their own, with back-to-back three pointers from Hill pulling MSOE within one possession.  Mendez would convert the three-point play to give the Raiders their first lead of the second half, with a Lana Kerley three ending the MSOE run at 14-0.
  • After heading to the fourth quarter ahead 37-34, the Raiders lead would be wrangled away by the Warriors in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.  After trading baskets but unable to regain the lead, the Raiders finally tied things up with 4:39 remaining in the fourth quarter on a shot from Shelby Glodowski.  From there, a couple of threes from Hill and Mahima Chokshi kept the Raiders in the mix, but WLC would hang on to hand the Raiders their third conference loss of the season.
