RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Edgewood - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (9-5, 3-0 NACC) got off to a fast start as Brenna Fledderman knocked in a pair of kills as it was 4-1 just five points in. Edgewood (13-5, 3-1 NACC) tied things at six before taking a 13-11 advantage at the midway point. A 6-0 run out of the media timeout from the Raiders catapulted them in the lead at 19-15 as they closed things out to take the opening set 25-20.
- Sets two and three saw late runs from the Eagles to narrowly defeat the Raiders 25-23 in each. The Raiders wouldn't back down in set four as after things were tied at nine, a 4-0 run capped by a block from Ashley Murphy and Brenna Fledderman put the Raiders in front 13-9. The Eagles tied thing up at 22, eventually getting to set point to try and seal the match, but the Raiders would not be denied the set as Ella Notheisen threw down a kill to tie the set at 25. An error from the Eagles put the Raiders at set point for Emineth to slam a kill from the middle to win 27-25 and force a fifth.
- The Raiders found a rhythm, forcing massive pressure on the Eagles early in set five, going on a 9-1 run, six of those points coming off Eagle errors. The Eagles cut it down to just a three point deficit at 13-10, but Emma Schattschneider and Murphy threw down clinching kills to win 15-13.
