HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (1-1) tallied the first two goals of the game courtesy of Josh Scheibel and Carter Stahl, with the Pioneers scoring their first at the 8:38 mark.  Stahl would tally his second goal of the first quarter with just over five minutes to play in the frame, giving MSOE the 3-1 lead.  On the ensuing faceoff, Graden Jansen would go coast to coast, tallying the fourth Raider goal of the game a mere seven seconds later.  In the opening moments of the second quarter, Stahl would complete his hat trick, as the assist from Dawson Smith pushed the MSOE lead to 6-2.  After another Pioneer goal, the Raiders would rip off four unanswered scores against Carroll, capping off the first half with a goal as Jack Civ fed Smith for a 10-3 Raider lead at the break.
  • Coming out of halftime, the Pioneers swapped goalies, and the script flipped on the Red and White.  Carroll would shut the Raiders out in the fourth quarter, tallying four third-quarter goals as the Pioneers trailed MSOE just 10-7 with one quarter to play.  After the Pioneers tallied their eighth goal in the opening minutes of the final frame, the pace and momentum of the contest began to rapidly slow.  Carroll would brining the game within a goal with just over three minutes to play, before tying the game up with just 84 seconds left in regulation.
  • After the first overtime period was scoreless, the Raiders won the ensuing faceoff of the second overtime, hold the ball the entire period.  With 2:39 left in the extra time, Will Malecha would be the hero for the Red and White, as he tallied the golden goal with the Raiders emerged victorious in a nailbiter by a final score of 11-10.
