Women's Basketball Cruises Past Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The MSOE women's basketball team crushed the Rockford Regents in their final weekend road trip of the regular season, as the Raiders cruised to a lopsided victory after holding the opposition to just eleven first-half points.

FINAL SCORE

MSOE RAIDERS – 74
Rockford Regents – 29

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (16-5, 11-3 NACC) faced little resistance from Rockford (1-22, 1-14 NACC) as the Raiders scored a whopping 24 points in the first ten minutes of play, as Halena Hill scored ten of her team-high 21 points in the first frame.  In the second quarter, the Raiders would ratchet up their defensive intensity, holding the Regents to just two points in the second frame.  The Raiders lead would reach as much as 24 points in the first half after a layup from Rachel Vasey, with an Aubrey Metzger layup sending MSOE to the break ahead 35-11.
  • Coming out of halftime, the Raiders would remain red-hot on both ends of the court, scoring at will as the MSOE lead eclipsed the 40-point mark on a three pointer from June Kirkpatrick in the early moments of the fourth quarter.  Every player on the roster would get in on the action, with Emily Ross assisting Vasey on the last bucket of the game as MSOE ran away with the 74-29 win.  With just two games left in the regular season, the Raiders currently sit fourth in the conference standings and have secured a spot in the NACC tournament, with one more victory clinching a home playoff game for the Red and White.
