GENEVA, Ill. – The MSOE women's hockey fell Saturday down on the road at Aurora University, falling behind in the opening period and couldn't close the gap.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Aurora - 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The shots were limited in the first period as Aurora (8-14-0, 6-10-0 NCHA) had the slight edge 7-6. Despite that, the Spartans capitalized on two separate occasions to lead 2-0 at the first break. Off a Hannah Baumann faceoff win to begin the second period, Lilo Emerson took the puck and immediately headed towards the goals to sneak it right through the Spartans goaltender for a goal to cut it to 2-1.
- The Spartans six minutes later extended the lead to make it 3-1. The Spartans continued to lead MSOE (9-12-2, 6-8-2 NCHA) in shot massively having ten compared to the Raiders five as they held their lead at the second break. The Spartans would extend their lead in the middle of the third, making it too large for the Raiders as they could only muster up five opportunities in the final period of play.
