PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The MSOE women's volleyball team took a set off of #24 ranked University of Chicago to open their action Saturday before outlasting Augustana College in a five-set battle to split day two of the UW-Platteville Invitatonal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. #24 University of Chicago
- MSOE (6-4, 0-0 NACC) led early after three straight kills from Ashley Murphy before Chicago (12-0, 0-0 UAA) used multiple mini-runs to lead 14-9 just after the midway point. The Maroons extended their lead to as large as eight at 21-13 before a kill from Ella Notheisen brought it down to four at 22-18. The Maroons would rattle off the final three points to take the set 25-18.
- The Maroons couldn't find any rhythm offensively to open the second set, helping the Raiders go on 7-0 run to lead 8-3. The Raiders led by double-digits after Brenna Fledderman killed a free ball at 16-6 as they completely ran away with the set 25-14.
- Things became tight to begin the third set as there was five lead changes through the midway point with Brooke Fledderman nailing an ace and Emma Schattschneider knocking in a kill. The Maroons would take the lead at 15-14 and never look back, winning set three 25-21. After the Raiders had a 6-5 lead early in set four, it would be all Maroons from there, using a 9-1 and 8-1 run to win 25-13.
- Schattschneider led things offensively for the Red & White, knocking in eleven kills, adding 14 digs for another double-double, while Alyssa Rusch had ten kills in the middle with three blocks. Brooke Fledderman and Maddie Abel each made 17 digs, while Abel also added 33 assists to Raider attackers.
- vs. Augustana
- The tightly contested sets happened immediately as Augustana (3-6, 0-0 CCIW) knocked in the first two points then the Raiders scored the next four, capped by an ace from Schattschneider. The two would trade the lead four times the remainder of the set as the Vikings pulled away on the final three points to win 25-23. A 7-0 run early in set two gave the Raiders a 10-3 advantage, getting cut down to a two-point difference at 17-15. Schattschneider would record kills on four of the Raiders' final eight points to take set two 25-21.
- The Vikings jumped out to the early lead in set three, leading 10-5, but was answered when a kill from Sydney Emineth tied the set at 13. Later in the set, the Raiders took a 21-20 advantage after an ace from Bro. Fledderman and after almost losing set point, a block from Emineth and Schattschneider clinched the set win 26-24.
- Vikings once again jumped out to an early lead until a 7-0 run with two aces from Ava Fischer put the Raiders in front 11-10. A small 3-0 run from the Vikings became pivotal after being tied at 16 that put them ahead, holding it to win the set 25-21 to force a fifth set. Tied at three to begin, it was all Raiders to close it out, going on a 12-1 run to cap it off.
- Schattschneider led the Raiders with 16 kills, adding 15 digs, three blocks, and three aces. Rusch added 13 kills with three blocks, while Emineth added eleven kills and a block. Katie Moser surpassed the 50 mark in assists with 51, while Bro. Fledderman recorded four service aces.
