CHICAGO, Ill. – The MSOE men's soccer team clashed with the Vikings of North Park University on Monday night, as the Raiders were shutout in their trip to The Second City.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 0
North Park Vikings - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (0-3-0, 0-0-0 NACC) and Vikings (1-1-1, 0-0-0 CCIW) exchanged shots across the opening 20 minutes, with shots for the Red and White from Jeremiah Shenouda and Ditar Useni blocked by the North Park defense. Goalkeeper Christian Dershem would make a save at the 26:19 mark, the only save needed in the first half from the junior as the Raiders and Vikings went to halftime scoreless.
- In the second half, North Park would record the first goal of the game at the 54:55 mark, as the Raiders would look to find an equalizer in search of the first win of the season. The teams would exchange yellows cards after the intensity and physicality began to ramp up, with Dershem making another critical save to keep the deficit at just one goal. The Vikings would tally their second goal of the night with less than eight minutes left to play, squashing the Raiders comeback hopes with the Red and White falling 2-0.
