Box Score MILWAUKEE – Freshman Collin Seubert hit a game-tying three-pointer with 12 seconds remaining in regulation and blocked the ensuing go-ahead basket attempt at the other end to force overtime and propel the MSOE men's basketball team to a 74-69 win over Dominican Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (4-2, 2-2 NACC) overcame a double-digit deficit by the Stars (0-9, 0-5 NACC) in the second half to force overtime and hold off the visitors in an extra frame.
Domincan led 44-34 with 11:53 remaining in the game, but MSOE whittled that lead down to three points at 56-53 with 1:21 remaining. The Raiders started fouling with 34 seconds remaining and Josh Mayberry hit a pair of free throws to re-establish a five-point cushion.
Senior John Cording then answered with a quick, coast-to-coast layup to make it 58-55. After the Stars missed the front end of a one-and-one, sophomore Austin Stueck got the rebound and found Seubert for a three-pointer in the corner to tie the score with 12 seconds to go.
After a visitor timeout, the ball was played into the corner, where Ryan Risley had a look at a winning three-pointer. Seubert closed out on Risley and blocked the shot just before the buzzer to force overtime.
In the added period, the score was tight throughout. Mayberry made two free throws to make it 70-69 MSOE with 24 seconds to go. Seubert then stepped to the free throw line and hit a pair of free throws and, after a Stars turnover, junior Jeremiah Erdmann hit two more to ice the game with eight seconds remaining.
Sophomore Connor Patterson led three Raiders in double-figures with 17 points. Cording added 14 points, while sophomore Dylan Jones finished with 11 and Seubert a career-best 11.
Mayberry scored a game-high 25 points and had nine rebounds for the Stars. Logan Harris had 19 points and nine boards and Risley tallied 15 points.
