Hockey Falls in MCHA Final

Adrian, Mich. - THE MSOE Raiders made it back into the Harris Cup Final to defend their title and earn a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III hockey tournament, but fell to the Adrian Bulldogs 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Adrian, Mich.

In the first period, Adrian scored just five minutes into the game, a Zach Wilson even strength goal off passes from Ryan Lowe and Kevin Balas.

The Raiders retaliated with a shot into the net by Kevin LoGiudice from Kevin Medina with less than two minutes left in the first stanza.

Both of Adrian's goals in the second period came off of power plays. The first was at 9:35, following an MSOE penalty. Shaquille Merasty scored the Bulldog goal, assisted by Lukas Coitti and Sam Nyberg.  At 13:18, Josh Cousineau scored off passes from Lowe and Balas on another power play opportunity.Adrian added a goal in the third period to clinch the game.

The Raiders Goalie Nick Kohn came up with 24 saves in the loss. MSOE was 0-for-1 on power plays, compared to 2-for-4 by Adrian. The Bulldogs were only in the penalty box one time for two minutes measured against the Raiders four penalties and eight minutes in the box.

MSOE's Jordan Keizer and Nathan Brunk were named to the MCHA All Tournament Team. THE Raiders end the season with a 17-10-2 record.
