Box Score 2 BELOIT, Wis. – The MSOE women's volleyball team got its 2013 season underway with a pair of hard-fought 3-1 losses Friday evening at the Buc Blast hosted by Beloit College.
The Raiders (0-2) won the first set of the season against Dubuque, but then dropped three-straight for the match (22-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-23). Then, in a late-night match with NACC-rival Marian, MSOE claimed a third-set win, but could not recover in losing in four (25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20).
Sophomore Leah Hendricks (DePere, Wis./West DePere) and freshman Sarabeth Haworth (Colorado Springs, Co./Mesa Ridge) paced the office. Each player tallied 14 kills against the Spartans, while Hendricks finished with 13 and Haworth 12 against the Sabres. Freshman Rachel Lynde (Colorado Springs, Co./Rampart) was efficient in her first collegiate action, hitting .600 in the first match .580 in the second.
Junior Ali Borrelli (Manhattan, Ill./Peotone) guided the offensive attack with 44 assists against Marian and junior Ali LoBue (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) had 14 digs in the match.
The Buc Blast continues Saturday, as the Raiders take on host Beloit at 10 a.m. and Finlandia at 2 pm.
