Box Score MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Nick Kohn made 36 saves behind a stout defensive effort, bit it was not enough as the MSOE hockey team fell to No. 2 St. Norbert 2-0 Saturday evening at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (4-14-1, 3-9 NCHA) put together a strong effort, but was unable to break down the Green Knight's (15-2-1, 10-1 NCHA) defense to get a goal.
Blake Thompson got the scoring started in the opening period at 14:29. He re-directed a shot into the net for the eventual game-winner. SNC then added a second goal at 15:14 of the second period during a 5-on-3 power play.
MSOE did not relent, fighting for a goal until the final horn. The bench called a timeout with 48.5 seconds remaining, pulling Kohn for an extra skater while on a power play. The Raiders had a couple of close calls, but was unable to get on the board.
St. Norbert finished the night with a 38-25 shot advantage, while David Jacobson stopped all 25 Red and White shots for the shutout.
MSOE returns to action on the road next weekend, heading to Hancock, Mich., for a conference series at Finlandia. The puck drops in Friday's opener at 6 p.m. central time.
