Box Score ROCKFORD, Ill. – The MSOE women's volleyball team needed to overcome a 2-0 deficit to defeat Rockford in five sets, 24-26, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-11, Saturday afternoon at the Seaver Center.
The Raiders (9-10, 4-2 NACC) scored a third-straight NACC victory by hitting over .300 in each of the final three sets to overcome the Regents' (8-13, 1-5 NACC) early advantage.
Sophomore Sarabeth Haworth just missed a 20-20 match with 20 kills and 19 dig, while sophomore Maria Bintz had 17 kills for the second-straight match to go with 10 digs. Junior Leah Hendricks added 12 kills on a .600 attack percentage for MSOE and junior Kasey Mylin finished with 10 kills.
Kayla Kurz paced Rockford's attack with 18 kills. Erin Pederson had 11 kills and 16 digs for the home team, as well.
The Raiders pushed the Regents to their limits in the first two sets, but found themselves trailing two sets to none. After hitting .133 and .176 over those sets, MSOE got its offense on track in the third set with 17 kills and just four errors for a .342 clip. The team then committed just two errors in each of the final two sets, against 27 kills, to complete the comeback.
The Red & White hit .259 for the match, its third this season in which it hit over .250. The Raiders also improved to 3-1 in five-set matches this season, coming back from being down 2-0 in each of the three wins.
MSOE returns to action Tuesday at Lakeland.
