BELOIT, Wis. – Sophomore Sarabeth Haworth had 21 kills and 34 digs against UW-Superior and freshman Abby Born set a school record with 64 assists vs. Marian as the MSOE women's volleyball team scored a pair of victories on the first day of Beloit College's Buc Blast Friday.

The Raiders (2-0) kicked off 2014 with a 9-25, 22-25, 25-20, 28-26, 15-9 victory against the Yellow Jackets (1-1). In the final match of the day, MSOE took down conference-foe Sabres (0-2) 25-16, 24-26, 25-23, 25-14.

Haworth led the wayin the opening match, adding four services aces, as the Red and White rallied after falling down 2-0 in the match. After struggling early, the Raiders took the final three sets for the victory. Freshman Aleah Quast had 20 digs in the match and Born notched 38 assists.

Against Marian, Born guided the attack and topped the MSOE record of 57 assists set by Melissa Cameron in 2004. Haworth and junior Leah Hendricks were prime benficiaries of the rookie's efforts. Haworth had a second-straight 20/20 match with 20 kills and 25 digs. Hendricks finished with 15 kills and sophomore Maria Bintz had four aces.

MSOE continues its season-opening weekend in Beloit, taking on the host Buccaneers at 2 p.m. and Ripon at 4 p.m.
