Box Score RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE women's basketball team fell to Concordia Chicago 80-67 Saturday afternoon at Geiseman Gymnasium.
The Raiders (9-3, 5-2 NACC) fell for the second-straight game after seeing their seven-game winning streak snapped Tuesday.
Sophomore Shaylan Reardon scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds before fouling out. Meanwhile, junior Megan Kroll notched 16 points, seven boards and three steals. Senior Bre Strong added a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds for MSOE.
Courtney Lofink scored 18 points for the Cougars (8-4, 6-3 NACC) and was joined in double-figures by Jaela DeJean's 16 points and Morgan Jahnke's 10.
The Raiders fell behind early and never led in the game after Concordia scored the first nine points of the matchup. It was a six-point game at 12-6 just over five minutes into the game, but the Cougars rattled off a 19-3 run over the next 6:19 to take a commanding 31-8 lead and never look back.
MSOE did its best to get back in the game, going on a 15-4 run and pulling within 10 with a minute remaining in the first half at 44-34. In the second half, the home team would expand its lead over 20 again, but the Red & White could get no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
After shooting 47.8 percent in the first half with 16 turnovers, the Raiders halved their turnover count in the second half but shot just 22.2 percent from the field in seeing their comeback hopes fade. They finished the game at a season-low 30.9 percent on a season-high 68 field goal attempts.
Concordia shot 39 percent in the game, dictating the pace of the play and converting MSOE's 24 turnovers into 34 points.
The Raiders will look to put this game behind them as they return to action at home Tuesday against Aurora.
