MENOMONIE, Wis. – Junior Nick Kohn made 20 saves as the MSOE hockey team posted its second-straight shutout for the first time in school history in a 6-0 victory over UW-Stout Friday evening at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

The Raiders (8-6) got a pair of hat tricks from junior Cody Ganchar and Jerad Tafoya in taking down the home-standing Blue Devils (2-8-1).

Kohn, who made 17 saves last Sunday, collected his second-straight shutout and the fifth of his career. MSOE now has three shutouts this season, all coming in the last five games.

Tafoya opened the scoring with a pair of power play goals in the first period. The Raider special teams would rack up four PP goals on the night. His first came at 11:32 and he then doubled the advantage just over six minutes later.

Ganchar's first goal was the lone score of the second period and came on the power play before the Raiders turned the game into a rout with an offensive third period.

Tafoya got the ball rolling just 20 seconds into the final frame to finish his hat trick. Then, Ganchar followed suit with his second man advantage goal at 9:53. Ganchar then completed his hat trick, and his team's scoring, at 17:14.

MSOE outshot UWS in the final period 17-8 to finish the game with a 29-20 shot advantage.

Junior Nick LaRue, freshman James Ring and sophomore Gage Christianson each posted two assists in the game.

The Raiders continue their road trip at UW-Superior Saturday.
