FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Junior Holly Denfeld finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the MSOE women's basketball team to its fifth-straight victory, 70-44, over Marian Friday evening at Sadoff Gymnasium.

The Raiders (5-4, 4-1 NACC) broke open the game with a 16-2 run over the end of the first half and the start of the second to pull away from the Sabres (4-5, 2-4 NACC) in the second half.

Denfeld finished 9-of-15 from the field to lead four players in double-figures for MSOE. Junior Lizzy Hilby scored 13 points off the bench, while senior Megan Kroll had 12 points, six steals and five rebounds in the game. Freshman Brooke Scott tallied a season-high 11 points.

Lindsay Vogels was Marian's lone double-digit scorer with 16 points.

The Sabres held a 20-19 lead at the 7:02 mark of the second quarter, but the Raiders responded by holding the home team without a field goal for 9:04, stretching into the third quarter. MSOE finished the opening half on a 10-2 run and then scored the first five points of the second half.

The Red & White continued to gradually pull away in the second half before finishing the game with another extended run. The Raiders led 59-42 with just over five minutes to go in the game before rattling off an 11-0 run, holding MU scoreless for 5:09, to push their lead to a game0high 28 points at 70-42 inside the final minute.

MSOE put together an efficient offensive performance, shooting 43.3 percent on the night and committing just 10 turnovers. Defensively, it limited the Sabres to just 30.8 percent shooting with 19 turnovers.

Over its five-game winning streak, the Raiders have been outscoring opponents by just over 20 points per game (64.2-44.0), while turning the ball over just 10.8 times per game. Defensively, MSOE is has limited its opponents to 30 percent shooting and 19.2 turnovers courtesy of 11.8 steals per game.

The Raiders return to the court Dec. 30 at Illinois Tech.
