Box Score RIVER FOREST, Illinois – The MSOE women's volleyball team suffered a hard-fought three-game sweep at the hands of Dominican Saturday evening at Igini Sports Forum.
The Raiders (11-14, 3-5 NACC) hung with the Stars (12-10, 5-3 NACC) for much of the night in falling 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.
Junior Hannah Pekarek led the team with seven kills and added 13 digs and a pair of service aces. Sophomore Kylie Kamm had six kills and senior Rachel Lynde chipped in five. Senior Aleah Quast added three aces in the match.
Elin Ream had a match-best 10 kills on .588 hitting for Dominican.
The opening game was a game of runs where MSOE jumped out to a 4-1 lead, only to see the Stars level the score at 7-7. Then, with the score tied at 12-12, the Raiders rattled off five-straight points. The home team once again responded, this time with six-straight points for the final lead change at 18-17. The score would be tied again at 18, 19, 20, and 21 before four of the final five points going to DU.
Dominican then opened the second set on a 10-2 run before opening as much as a 10-point advantage at 18-8 before completing the comfortable win.
MSOE battled back in the third game, going toe-to-toe once again with the Stars. Facing a 12-8 deficit, the Raiders scored the next five points. The teams went back and forth, including trading 3-0 runs leading to a 20-20 tie. It was 22-22 when Dominican closed out the match with three-straight points.
The Red & White hit .045 for the match, compared to .119 for DU.
The Raiders are back in action Friday at home against Benedictine.
