Box Score HANCOCK, Mich. – After #11 MSOE came away with one point in a 2-2 tie against Finlandia on Friday night, the two teams were back at it on Saturday afternoon in Michigan. Unfortunately, the Raiders offensive efforts were unfruitful in their second NCHA loss of the season.
RESULTS
#11 MSOE – 1
Finlandia – 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
#11 MSOE (6-2-2, 1-2-2 NCHA) did have an offensive attack in Saturday afternoon's game against Finlandia (3-7-2, 1-5-2 NCHA), as they outshot the Lions to the tune of 36-22. Hockey can be a fickle beast, however. Only one of those Red & White attempts hit the back of the net, that being the opening goal of the contest. Jeff Makowski put the biscuit in the basket at 12:17 of the first period and their 1-0 lead held up for quite some time. It wasn't until over halfway through the second frame that the tide started to turn. Finlandia evened up the game at 13:58 for what would be the first of three unanswered goals. The Lions added the eventual game winning tally with just 1:04 left in regulation and added an empty netter with just 30 seconds left. The Raider defense should be credited for keeping the team in the contest for as long as they did, but in the end, MSOE fell for the second time in four tries. Even though the Raiders still hold an overall record that is well above .500, they currently sit in last place with only four points in the NCHA south division.
