Box Score MILWAUKEE – (RV) MSOE hockey returned to the ice this evening for the first time since early December. Unfortunately, their overtime woes did not reset with the calendar moving forward to 2020. The Raiders were unable to break the 2-2 tie before St. Norbert did in the extra frame, falling 3-2 in the first game of the new year.
RESULT – FINAL IN OVERTIME
St. Norbert – 3
(RV) MSOE – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
(RV) MSOE (6-3-2, 1-3-2 NCHA) got things started in the first period when Nigel Nelson scored his third goal of the season at 6:24. The tally, which was assisted by both Will Gauthier and Eliot Friedow, was the lone score of the first 20 minutes even though St. Norbert (6-7-0, 4-5-0 NCHA) outshot the Raiders 10-5. The Green Knights finally got one to go in the second, scoring a power play goal at 9:31. The 1-1 tie wouldn't last long, as Jeff Makowski answered back with an extra man tally of his own, scoring at 12:56 thanks to helpers from Stuart Harley and Adam Ostrowski. However, that would be the last time the Raiders found the back of the net. SNC scored the only goal in the final frame of regulation at 4:20 and would break the 2-2 tie less than three minutes into overtime to walk away with the 3-2 decision over MSOE.
