Shorthanded Raiders Hockey Can't Stop Green Knights Offense

Box Score

DE PERE, Wis. – Overtime losses are hard to swallow. However, the MSOE hockey team was going to try their best to not let one loss get in their way of securing their second conference win of the season. Unfortunately, St. Norbert had other plans as they scored more goals than any other Raider opponent this season, winning by four against the Red & White on Saturday night.

RESULTS
(RV) MSOE – 3
St. Norbert – 7

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (6-4-2, 1-4-2 NCHA) played shorthanded on Saturday night, as their leading scorer and starting goalkeeper were unable to hit the ice for the second game against St. Norbert (7-7, 5-5) of the weekend. While the absence of an offensive presence was definitely felt, it was the Raiders defense that kept them from coming away with a much-needed win against the Green Knights. The Red & White allowed seven goals, which was by far the most they have allowed in a single contest all season. However, the Raiders actually outshot SNC and had almost three times the amount of power plays that their opponent did. Unfortunately, MSOE was unable to convert on six of their eight man up opportunities, one which included a five-minute major. St. Nobert's offense came into the weekend series having scored 20 goals in their last three games and added ten more to the total once the final game concluded as they walked away with a 7-3 win over the Raiders.
