Slow First Half Too Much For Raiders To Overcome

Box Score

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – MSOE women's basketball was looking to push their winning streak to three games when they headed on the road to take on Concordia Chicago. However, low point totals in the first two quarters put them behind the eight ball as the Cougars took home the 12 point win on Saturday afternoon.

RESULT
MSOE – 47
Concordia Chicago – 59

HOW IT HAPPENED
The MSOE (6-13, 6-8 NACC) defense has been so good lately, routinely shutting down their opponents and giving the team a chance to win if their offense was struggling on a given night. However, the defense just wasn't their usual selves against Concordia Chicago (7-13, 6-9 NACC). The Cougars did what most teams haven't been able to do against the Raiders as of late which is score their points per game average. While CUC didn't quite reach that figure, they were just two points short. The Raiders still forced Concordia to cough up the ball 15 times and held them to 37.5 percent shooting, but a tough first half from the offensive side of the ball put them in a hole that they couldn't dig out of. The Red & White scored just nine points in the first and five in the second. This allowed CUC to carry a 35-14 lead into the half, and while the Raiders scored 22 and 11 in the last two quarters respectively, it was just too much to overcome in their search for their third straight victory.
