Box Score MILWAUKEE – Anyone that has been following the MSOE women's basketball team since the start of the new year would know that on any given night, they could beat some of the best teams in the conference. Well, tonight was that night. The Raiders used their suffocating defensive style to perfection against the Falcons on Concordia Wisconsin, pairing that with some timely shots to come away with their biggest win of the season Tuesday night within the confines of Hotchkin Arena.
RESULTS
Concordia Wisconsin – 43
MSOE – 48
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (7-15, 7-10 NACC) made Concordia Wisconsin (13-9, 12-5 NACC) show their cards early, allowing the Raiders to make sure they could adjust their game plan on the fly. The Falcons tried to exploit the size of the Red & White roster by using a hi-lo setup to score in the paint early and often. What CUW didn't plan on was MSOE being able to answer right back with defense that didn't allow for any open shots underneath the hoop. While the Raider offense scored around their season averages in both points and shooting percentage, the Falcons didn't come close. MSOE held them to just 14.3 percent from the field in the second quarter, a figure that only went up by 2.4 percent in the third. For the game CUW shot 27.5 percent, 13 percentage points below their 2019-2020 total to date. That's not to say that there was any time for the Raiders to relax and breathe. With only a one-point Red & White lead at the half, each team scored eight in the third to set up a nail biter of a fourth and final frame. Both teams matched each other shot for shot and while CUW created some "separating distance" with about five minutes left, but never managed more than a two-point lead. The Raiders stayed focused though and didn't let the Falcons uptick sway them. Down 41-39 with 2:37 left, MSOE went on a 9-2 run to wrap up the ballgame and keep their playoff chances alive with the huge five point win.
RAIDER REMARKS

- MSOE stood tall in the paint even though the Falcons had them beat on size. Each team scored 18 under the hoop.
- Though the Raider's biggest lead came with just three seconds remaining in the game, they still led for 18:42 in total game time.
