Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE women's basketball team, winners of their last two contests, traveled to Lake Forest this evening to play a rare non-conference game this season. It was worth the trip down I-94 as the Raiders secured yet another blowout victory on Tuesday night.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 73
Lake Forest – 50
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (3-5, 2-4 NACC North) came into tonight's contest with a head full of steam after thrashing Alverno this past weekend, but in order to run their winning streak to three games they would have to get past an opponent that has historically given them fits. Lake Forest (0-1, 0-0 Midwest) played in their very first game of the season tonight, but the Raiders still had to be on the top of their game after getting beat by the Foresters by 33 last season. The Red and White defense made the biggest impact in the first frame. They held Lake Forest to just eight points, forcing them to miss 10 of their 14 shots from the field. In fact, the Raiders would hold the Foresters to just 31.7 percent shooting in the game while the Red and Would scored on the other side of the court 44.4 percent of the time. MSOE had their biggest offensive quarter in the third where they scored 27 points, a quarter in which senior Kayla Barreto shot a perfect 5-5. The large lead allowed the majority of the Raiders squad to get some playing time once again as the Red & White cruise to a 23 point victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders offense was been a well-oiled machine during their current three game winning streak, scoring 73 points per game. Meanwhile, their defensive effort has not been too shabby either. The Red and White have held their opponents to an average of just 38.7 points in each ballgame.
- Freshman Chloe Kurkjain has been playing very solid basketball over the past three games and earned the first double-double of her collegiate career with 11 points and 11 boards against the Foresters tonight.
