Falcons, Coin Toss End Raiders Season

Box Score

MEQUON, Wis. – A lot was on the line this evening when MSOE women's basketball squared off against their Concordia Wisconsin counterparts. The winning team would be locked into the third seed in the NACC tournament, with the losing team having to wait to see what their future would hold. Fate was not kind to the Raiders as they lost by ten to the Falcons and will not make the playoff in the 2021 campaign.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 59
Concordia Wisconsin – 69

HOW IT HAPPENED
Tonight's contest pretty much came down to two quarters, the second and the third. MSOE (6-6, 5-5 NACC North) overcame a slow start in the opening frame and only trailed by five after the first ten minutes. The Raiders would continue that momentum and outscore Concordia Wisconsin (9-5, 6-4 NACC North) 18-4 in the second stanza. However, the Falcons would return the favor in the third with a 23-7 comeback in which the Raiders shot just 17.6 percent. The Red and White took 20 shots in the final quarter in an attempt to challenge CUW's lead and win the ballgame, but only six fell as MSOE ends their season on the road with a ten point loss.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • Due to a two-way tie for fourth place in the NACC North, a coin flip was used to determine if the Raiders or Lakeland would get into the postseason. This coin did not flip in the Red & White's favor and they will miss out on this year's tournament.
  • Six seniors will now depart the squad, but those student-athletes should be extremely proud of the turnaround the team had this year. They won just three less games than all of last year in 13 fewer attempts.
