Box Score 4 WAVERLY, Iowa – Tournament season has officially begun. The MSOE women's volleyball team headed west and participated at the St. Mary's Sugar Loaf Classic which was hosted by Wartburg College. The Raiders had a rough first day of play, but they rebounded nicely on Saturday to go 2-2 in their first weekend of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. UW-River Falls
- MSOE (2-2) attacked to the tune of .153 but were outkilled 43-12
- Italia Fields had an impressive season opener. The senior hit .273 with seven kills and five digs.
- vs. Gustavus Adolphus
- The Raiders had a hard time getting anything going on the offensive end and finished the second and third sets with a hitting percentage in negative figures
- Quinn Borchert had eight kills while Fields led the team with two aces
- vs. St. Mary's (Minn.)
- The Red & White hit .205 as a team in their first victory of the season and were able to win the third set in extra points to turn the tide of the match.
- Both Borchert and Fields had double digit kills with the former sending home 17 in four sets.
- Amanda Yackley tallied 35 assists while Fields and Samantha Johnson had 14 and 13 digs respectively.
- The victory was the first against SMU in program history.
- vs. Carleton
- MSOE saved their best match for last, downing their opponents in straight sets with 44 kills and a .228 attack percentage.
- All eight Raiders registered at least one kill and all but two got into the digs stat column.
- Borchert and Fields once again led the Red & White in kills with 13 each.
- MSOE has won two straight against Carleton.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders have started 2-2 for the first time since the 2018 season.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Red & White will be back at it with three more next weekend when they travel to Kenosha, Wis. to participate at the Carthage Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
