Box Score HANCOCK, Mich. – MSOE men's hockey hit the ice one week after securing two wins against rival Concorida Wisconsin at home. This time the Raiders were the visiting team, but the outcome was the same as they downed host Finlandia by the score of 3-1.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Finlandia – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The MSOE (8-9-2, 5-5-1-1 NCHA) offensive attack was out in full force once again tonight, tallying 46 total shots, but they didn't find the back of the net in the first period.
- It wasn't until halfway through the second frame that the scoreboard would light up with a crooked number for either squad. Ryan Reid broke the stalemate for the Raiders when he put home a pass from Christian Sabin and Preston Park to capitalize on the power play.
- With an extra man tally already in the bag Matt Hanewall decided to score in a man down situation, netting MSOE's first short handed goal of the year to put them up by two heading into the final stanza of the evening.
- Finlandia (1-19-0, 0-13-0-0 NCHA) tried to make things interesting by cutting the Raiders lead down to one with just over five minutes left to play but Garrett Gintoli shut the door with 22 second left to give the Red & White a two goal victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
- MSOE is 7-2-1 against the Lions in their last ten games and haven't dropped one to them since November of 2018.
- George McBey not only had his first ever career start in net tonight he also stopped 15 of 16 shots to secure the first victory of his MSOE tenure.
