Raiders Sunk By Early Penalties

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – (RV) MSOE men's hockey was coming off a big weekend and hoping the momentum they gained from sweeping Saint John's (Minn.) would carry over when they took on the No. 4 Adrian Bulldogs who came into this season as the defending national champions. Unfortunately, the special teams attack of Adrian was too much for the Raiders to overcome in a four goal loss on Friday night.

FINAL SCORE
No. 4 Adrian – 5
(RV) MSOE RAIDERS – 1

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • (RV) MSOE (7-3, 3-2 NCHA) almost got through the first period with No. 4 Adrian (6-2-1, 3-2 NCHA) in a scoreless tie before a questionable five minute major was assessed to the Raiders that put the Bulldogs on the power play. AC would go on to score twice during the un-releasable penalty with the opening goal coming at 18:46 in the first before they added another at 1:43 in the second.
  • The Bulldogs scored their third straight extra man goal with 15 minutes left in the middle frame before pushing their lead to four with an even strength tally midway through the period. They would close out their offensive output at five when they added a shorthanded strike with less than six minutes to go in the game.
  • The Red & White weren't shutout though. Seth Bernard scored at 14:47 in the third with assists going to Cole Beilke and Carson Jones which ensured the Raiders at least one crooked number up on the board. Unfortunately, that was all they would manage in a 5-1 loss to begin the weekend slate.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • Since beating Adrian in the NCHA playoffs in 2021, the Raiders haven't had much luck against the Bulldogs. They are 0-4 since that victory and have gone 2-7-1 in their last ten meetings.
  • Though the game might not have gone the way the Raiders would have wanted it to, the Teddy Bear Toss portion of the night was a huge success. 246 stuffed animals will be donated to Children's Wisconsin which breaks the previous record of 238 set back in 2019.
