Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. – MSOE men's hockey began a two series road trip on Friday night when they traveled to Northeastern Indiana to take on (RV) Trine. Offense was at a premium in tonight's contest, but the Raiders silenced the Thunder with an overtime strike to take home the 2-1 victory
FINAL SCORE - OVERTIME
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
(RV) Trine – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (11-5, 6-3 NCHA) scored the game's opening goal at 17:45 in the first period but the Jackson Hughes (Preston Park / Jackson Yee) goal was all either team would score for the first 45 minutes of play.
- (RV) Trine (11-6-1, 6-5 NCHA) evened the game early in the third period but the contest would still be tied at 1-1 after the final horn in regulation sounded.
- Knowing how pivotal this series was coming in, the Red & White made short work of the extra stanza. Carson Jones and Ryan Reid connected with Kevin Paganini for the junior's second game winning goal of the season to give MSOE the 2-1 victory after just 1:57 of overtime action.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders now have two straight victories over the Thunder after going five straight games without a winning decision (0-3-2).
- This was the Raiders first overtime win on the season and just their second game that went past three periods overall in 2022-23.
- Kevin Paganini's overtime winner allowed the junior to tie his single season highwater mark of six goals in a campaign with over a month to go.
