Raiders Fall to Undefeated Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, WIS. – The MSOE women's basketball team took their six-game winning streak up north as they took on UW-Stevens Point.  The game was closely contested until the Pointers took a late lead, capitalizing off consecutive Raider turnovers.

RESULT

MSOE RAIDERS – 43

UW-Stevens Point - 52

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (6-2, 2-0 NACC) and UW-Stevens Point (8-0) traded threes to open the game, with Halena Hill and Mahima Chokshi hitting their first attempts from downtown to put the Raiders ahead 6-3 early.  The Pointers quickly responded and took a 10-6 lead but the Raiders got to the free throw line and a Halena Hill layup gave the Raiders an 11-10 lead at the end of the first.
  • Both teams began the 2nd quarter with an edge on the defensive end, with most of the offense coming at the charity stripe or on the fast break.  The Raiders largest lead of the quarter was four points after a big Mahima Choksi three pointer, but the Pointers would tie the game up 26-26 at the break.
  • Nicole Levine hit a three to break the tie coming out of halftime, but the Pointers would carry a one-point lead most of the third quarter.  Another three, this time from Nina Perl, gave the Raiders a 37-35 lead heading into the fourth.
  • The Raiders shooting unfortunately cooled off in the fourth quarter and after a streak of late turnovers, were unable to overcome the Pointers 52-43
