Raiders Deep Game Silences Sabres

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – After grinding out a win on Saturday against Dominican, MSOE women's basketball was looking to go two in a row on Wednesday when they took on Marian. The Raiders offense was hot all night and their defense was even hotter in a 16 point victory over the Sabres inside the Kern Center.

FINAL SCORE
Marian – 44
MSOE RAIDERS – 60

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The MSOE (7-17, 6-11 NACC) offense came to play in the first quarter against Marian (6-18, 5-12 NACC), but so did the defense. The Raiders scored 19 points, nine of which came from freshman Mahima Chokshi, but they also allowed just five on 2-of-11 shooting for the Sabres.
  • The Marian offense came alive in the second frame and cut the Raiders lead down to ten at the break by outscoring them 19-15 in the ten minute period. The comeback wouldn't last long however as the Red & White put together a big stanza out of the locker room. Chokshi once again put up big numbers with 12 in the third as the Raiders shot 50 percent from the field and 5-of-8 from three point land.
  • The Red & White's offense slowed down in the fourth quarter but the defense kept doing their job. Marian had just one successful shot from the field and the Raiders locked down the area from behind the arc all game as well leading to the Sabres making just three of their 22 attempts. MSOE led wire to wire for the big 60-44 victory over Marian.

  • The 12 made three pointers for the Raiders is the second highest total ever in a single game in program history. The record of 14 was set back in 2010 against Aurora. They were also just four assists away from entering the top five in that category as well.
