MILWAUKEE – MSOE softball hit the field to make up another weather related postponement when they welcomed Edgewood to Milwaukee for a weekday afternoon matchup. The Raiders used some timely offense to secure a come from behind victory in game one but couldn't take advantage of some Eagle miscues in the back half as they split with their guests on Tuesday.
RESULTS
Edgewood – 2
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Edgewood – 6
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- Edgewood (14-13, 4-7 NACC) struck first in game one with a RBI double to left center, but it wasn't anything MSOE (17-9, 9-3 NACC) would let stand in their way of a comeback.
- The Raiders did all their damage in the third inning, quickly reversing a 1-0 deficit. An error by the shortstop plated Alyssa Jacobson for the first run of the game before Lauren Stefanczyk singled with the bases loaded to score two more Red & White runners.
- The Eagles got one more in the fourth, and while MSOE couldn't add any more insurance runs to the scoreboard, starter Kennedy Lehn had things under control. She threw another complete game shutout while striking out 14 in the Raiders 3-2 game one victory.
- Game Two
- While the Eagles certainly gave the Raiders chances to take game two, they couldn't overcome five Eagles runs in the first two innings. However, they still gave it their best shot.
- Celine Pacheco got the Red & White on the board in the fourth with a single up the middle and they'd add one more in the frame when Lexi Koepke came across to score on an Eagles throwing error, one of their three in the game.
- Edgewood added one more to their total in the top of the sixth before the Raiders got to work in their half of the same inning. Pacheco once again singled to drive in a run right before Caroline Fouras tripled to left to plate her teammate. Fouras then scored on a Grace Brown groundout to get MSOE within one. Unfortunately, the comeback fell short as a two out triple in the seventh was unable to advance any further in a one run loss, their first at MSOE Raiders Field.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The loss in game two snapped the Raiders eight game win streak against the Eagles.
- With her 14 strikeouts in game one, senior Kennedy Lehn has eclipsed the 350 mark in her MSOE career.
