MILWAUKEE – In one of the most thrilling matches of the season thus far, the MSOE women's volleyball team came out on top in a back-and-forth five set thriller to kickoff Homecoming Weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The MSOE (9-10, 1-2 NACC) defense got the night started with a block from Ava Larson and Emma Schattschneider to kick start a 9-1 run to begin. Wisconsin Lutheran (7-8, 2-1 NACC) stormed back quickly to tie up the set at 11 with back-to-back kills from Knutson started another run that had the Kern rocking with the Raiders taking a 21-12 lead. After the Warriors continued to trickle in points, Hannah Gilbert capped things off with a kill to take it 25-16.
- Schattschneider stayed hot in set two, adding three kills and an ace with Warrior miscues as the Raiders started with an 8-3 lead. The Raiders sat comfortably throughout the set until late when the Warriors finally gained momentum an overtook the lead late on a service ace of their own. After a Warriors service error tied things at 24, they fought back for the next two to tie up the match, 26-24. Warrior miscues continued to aid healthy Raider leads to start the third set 11-4 early until a run from them tied things at 17. After kills from Knutson and Schattschneider continued to be the driving force, Larson put the final nail to the back-and-forth tilt 28-26.
- The Warriors finally strung together their momentum early in the set in the fourth when they took a 7-2 that quickly got interrupted by kills from Larson and Gilbert. Knutson and Schattschneider continued to be driving forces in the Raider offense to take over the lead midway through. Hoping to put the match away, the Warriors had different plans late when they strung together kills overtake the lead 20-19. After a dump from Joelle Harrington and kill from Schattschneider to tie things at 23, back-to-back kills from the Warriors forced the match to a fifth set.
- Momentum swings were evident in the final set as the Warriors carried their fourth set win on a 4-0 run to begin, eventually growing to a 10-4 lead. After a kill from Schattschneider, that quickly flipped to the side of the Red & White as they went on a 7-1 run that included back-to-back aces from Madalynn Skwarek. Things continued to go south for the Warriors as they Raiders took the remaining points all on errors to come out on top 15-13.
