Raiders Bats Stay Hot; Sweep Eagles

GLENDALE, Wis. – The bats for MSOE stayed hot from the weekend as the Raiders picked up another conference Tuesday, defeating Edgewood College with double-digit runs in both contests.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 14
Edgewood – 3

MSOE RAIDERS – 13
Edgewood - 8

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • The two sides traded runs in the second innings when Kyle Labedz grounded into a double-play to bring in Micah Overley. MSOE (17-8, 11-3 NACC) asserted themselves ahead in the bottom of the third when Brandon Beauchamp and Chris Barnes each drove in runs for a 4-1 lead but that was just the beginning of what was set to take place.
    • The Raiders batted around quite a bit in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by Beauchamp clearing the bases midway through to put a 10-piece on the scoreboard to make the game 13-1. Edgewood (14-13, 8-6 NACC) drove in two more runs in the top of sixth, but that was the only damage AJ Hamilton allowed on mound as they cruised to an easy victory in game one.
  • Game Two
    • The Eagles went with a different approach in game two, blowing by the Raiders with a 8-1 lead. Barnes broke up the scoring in the bottom of the second blasting a homerun, showing the Eagles the Raiders weren't going to go away easily.
    • The Raiders put up nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, eventually tying things up at eight before Overley ripped one into right center to bring Sam Meidenbauer and Blake Hall in to score to take a 10-8 lead. Three more insurance runs in the top of the fifth helped the Raiders finish off the Eagles after the weather forced the game to be stopped early.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will take on the Battle of Brew City tomorrow, April 17th, when they take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee inside American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch is set for 5:35 PM.
