#20 Titans Sweep Raiders in the Rain

MEQUON, Wis. – MSOE softball hosted #20 UW Oshkosh on Tuesday after several reschedules, as the Titans swept the Raiders through worsening conditions as the games went on.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 0
UWO Titans – 2

MSOE RAIDERS – 0
UWO Titans – 4

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • The Raiders (12-16, 7-5 NACC) and Titans (24-0) were scoreless through three, as Katie Pollock allowed only two Titan hits through the first half of the game, before giving up one run in the fourth after a double to left field.
    • The Raiders found themselves with two- on and one-out but were unable to take advantage after a timely Titans double play.  UWO would add an insurance run on a solo homerun in the sixth, as the Raiders went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh to fall 2-0.
  • Game Two
    • After an inning of play in Game 2, the weather took a turn for the worse, leading to sloppy field conditions down the stretch.  The Raiders mustered seven hits in the second game but were unable to bring any runs across. Jayda Nelson continued her hot streak, going 3-for-3 in Game 2 with a double.
    • Finnley Olsen continued to improve on the mound for the Raiders, persevering through the rain for a complete game.  Olsen finished with one strikeout and four walks, as the wet game balls caused pitch control issues for both MSOE and the Titans.
    • The Raiders had a chance in the bottom of the seventh after Faith Matta and Jenna O'Donnell reached with two outs, but the MSOE rally fell short as the Raiders fell 4-0.
