Baseball Splits Falcons

GLENDALE, Wis. – The MSOE baseball team returned to MSOE Raiders Stadium for a meeting with nearby Concordia University Wisconsin. After taking advantage of plenty of miscues from the Falcons in game one, the Raiders ultimately split the day.

MSOE RAIDERS – 6
Concordia Wisconsin – 2

MSOE RAIDERS – 2
Concordia Wisconsin - 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (19-11, 13-5 NACC) put up three runs in the top of the first without recording a hit. After two leadoff walks and a hit by pitch, Micah Overley drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly to bring Brandon Beauchamp home before a passed ball and wild pitch scored Blake Hall for the second run of the game. Chris Barnes added a sacrifice fly of his own to score Sam Meidenbauer for the 3-0 lead.
    • The Raiders continued to find more creative ways of scoring after Jack Kalitowski singled to begin the fifth inning and after a pickoff attempt sailed over the first basemen's head, he found himself all the way around to score after another error from the Concordia Wisconsin (14-19, 9-11) centerfielder. Later in the inning, Overley drove in his second run of the game to bring in Beauchamp to give the Raiders a comfortable 5-0 lead. AJ Hamilton got the start for the Raiders and despite giving up two runs in the final two innings, finished off the Falcons 6-2.
  • Game Two
    • The Falcons went for the early strike with a sacrifice fly of their own in the top of the first for the early 1-0 lead. The bottom half of the inning saw the Raiders immediately tie things up when Overley had an infield single to score Hall and Barnes picking up the 2-1 lead, reaching on an error to score Meidenbauer. That was the final scoring for the day for the Red & White as the Falcons tied things in the fifth and took the lead in the seventh.
