HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- The Raiders (16-20, 11-9 NACC) tied the game up in the bottom of the third after the Warriors (11-25, 7-13 NACC) took an early 1-0 lead. Jocelyn Clodi singled before Alyssa Jacobson reached on a Warrior error. After an errant throw from the Wisconsin Lutheran catcher on a Jacobson steal, Clodi was able to score and knot things up at 1-1 for MSOE.
- The Warriors would add runs in the fifth and sixth innings thanks to the long ball, as Wisconsin Lutheran tagged MSOE for three homeruns, as the wind at Raiders Field carried the ball out all game. The Raiders would fall 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh as MSOE fell 8-1 to open the doubleheader.
- Game Two
- The Raiders trailed 5-0 after one and a half innings of play, as WLC continued to string together hits against MSOE. Sadie Gaberell would get the Raiders on the board in the bottom of the second, dropping a single into the right center gap, allowing Carlee Emery to score.
- MSOE would chip away at the Warriors lead again in the fifth, as Jayda Nelson singled to score Caroline Fouras, but the rally ended abruptly as Noel Dahl was thrown out going for home. Jenna Trewyn continued to put her name in the record books for MSOE as her two hits put her in sole possession of the MSOE career hit record.
- Trailing 7-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Raiders began to mount their rally. A double from Emery allowed the pinch-running Carley Witteveen to score, before the Raiders cut the deficit to two on an RBI single from Clodi. With 2 outs and the bases juiced, Faith Matta stepped up to the plate and delivered in heroic fashion for the Raiders, driving the ball into the right center gap. All three runners came around to score as the Raiders faithful erupted for the walk-off winner.
