HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vs. Benedictine
- MSOE (26-15, 19-5 NACC) struck first on the host school after Blake Hall reached on an error and came around on single from Micah Overley for a 1-0 lead. Brandon Beauchamp helped extend the lead in the second, doubling into left center field for Jack Kalitowski to score to make it 2-0. Overley continued to use his big game power as he blasted one into right field for a two-run home run in the third as Christian Bosque capped the inning with an RBI single as the Raiders took a 5-0 lead.
- Benedictine (31-11, 17-7 NACC) quickly took the momentum with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third to cut their deficit to two. Chris Barnes and Collin Truitt helped extend the lead with RBIs in the fourth, but the Eagles slowly continued to close in on the Raiders until they went back-to-back in the bottom of the seventh to tie and take an 8-7 lead. An insurance run for them came later in the inning capped off the scoring for the day as the Raiders couldn't create any more runs to spark a comeback.
- Vs. Aurora
- Aurora (33-10, 18-6 NACC) started things off with a bang with a leadoff home run for a 1-0 lead. The Raiders tied things up in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Kyle Labedz and took a 2-1 lead on a miscue from the Spartans. The Spartans took another one deep to retake the lead in the third before putting up a five spot in the fourth to blow things open 8-2.
- The Raiders finally cut into the deficit in the seventh when Barnes hit a sacrifice fly to score AJ Le but that was all they could produce. The Spartans tacked on one more to their total to finish off the Raiders 9-3.
