Women's Volleyball Upended in Road Match at Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Heading back on the road traveling up to Marian University, the MSOE women's volleyball team couldn't put a stop to the long runs the Sabres were able to create to get swept.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 0

Marian - 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a kill from Emma Schattschneider to knot things up at one, Marian (6-9, 1-1 NACC) had home court advantage on their side taking a 8-3 lead before MSOE (6-10, 0-2 NACC) stormed back to tie things at nine after a kill from Morgan Borchardt. The Sabres stormed from there, going on a 7-0 run to sit comfortably leading 16-9. The Raiders' only run they created in the remainder of the set was near the end after a kill from Schattschneider started a three-point run but was cut short after the Sabres clipped off the final two points to take the set 25-19.
  • The Sabres attacked early in the second set, starting on an 11-3 run that finally cut short on a service error. Errors from the Sabres continued to help the Raiders stay in the set, adding to a 5-0 run midway through that was aided with a service ace from Annabella Visak, cutting their deficit to 20-13. The Raiders felt short of their luck of collecting Sabre miscues the rest of the set, falling short 25-16.
  • A hot start from the Sabres reappeared in the third set after they took a 7-3 but managed to get back to within two after a pair of kills from Ana Knutson. After trading points back and forth with the Raiders staying in it, the Sabres turned on the heat and took a 9-0 run to blow away the Red & White for a 23-12 lead. The Raiders could only add three more points to cut in to their deficit before the Sabres put in the final nail to take the set 25-15.
