ROCKFORD, Ill. –
Mason Dopirak brought his hot streak on the road Saturday afternoon as he tied his season high of 30 points to extend the MSOE men's basketball team's win streak to five at Rockford University.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 89
Rockford - 79
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rockford (9-6, 4-4 NACC) took the momentum from the opening tip knocking in the first jumper until Dopirak knocked in two free throws six minutes later to give MSOE (11-5, 7-2 NACC) their first lead 11-9. The Raiders true momentum came late in the first half when they went on a 10-4 run to reach a double-digit lead after Carson Cordelli converted a three-point play with 2:31 to play. The lead didn't stop there as Chase Cummings nailed a three-pointer with under a minute in the first half to go up 13 before the Regents closed on a four-point run to cut the lead to 43-34 at the break.
- The Regents came out of the break with a vengeance as the Raider lead was cut to just five just two minutes in. The Raiders didn't blunder from there however, immediately answering on a 9-0 run to give them a 14-point lead after Dopirak nailed a jumper. The Regents continued to not feel threatened, bringing their deficit back into the single digits twice. As the clock continued to tick down, a Cummings three-pointer and a three-point play from Donovan Carter gave the Raiders their largest lead of the day of 16 to put the game on ice with just two minutes to play.
