MILWAUKEE –
Hannah Baumann connected on two power-plays early as the MSOE women's hockey team soar past Marian University Saturday night.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Marian - 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (4-13-2, 3-9-2 NCHA) found their success early on when in the first period, they had their second power-play opportunity with under seven minutes had to play. Baumann was able to take the rebound from her own shot and have one more chance of it and sailed it in to go up 1-0. The Raiders were able to keep that momentum going when they immediately had another power-play opportunity and Baumann went through the Marian (6-12-3, 4-7-3 NCHA) defense for her second goal in just over a minute as they went into the first break leading 2-0.
- Coming into the second period, the Sabres wasted no time in clawing back into the deficit as they scored less than a minutes in to cut it to one. Just minutes later, Anika Einbeck was able to take the puck from the board and go to the middle of the ice to put it in the back of the net as the Raiders extended the lead 3-1. It was the Jenna Kent show the rest of the way as she totaled 35 saves on the night to not let the Sabres get any further.
