DAVENPORT, Fla. – The MSOE baseball team kicked off their trip to the RussMatt Florida Invitational on Friday, as the Raiders split the day, taking a huge 8-0 win over #19 Babson College before falling to Mitchell College 11-3 to close out the first day of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs Babson
- Kellen Pate took the mound for the Red and White, pitching lights out across seven innings of action while racking up seven strikeouts and allowing just four hits against the #19 team in the country.
- The Raiders would take the lead on an error by the Babson third baseman and an RBI single from Christian Bosque would score Charlie Claas to push the MSOE lead to 2-0.
- Heading into the ninth inning ahead two runs, the Raiders would bat around the order in the top of the inning, as AJ Le kicked off the Raider rally with a walk. MSOE would record four base hits in the top of the inning, as Bosque continued to add to his stat line, finishing with three hits and three RBI. Eric Williamson would close out the game for the Red and White, as the hard-throwing right hander forced the final six outs to secure a big upset-win for the Raiders.
- vs Mitchell College
- Against Mitchell College, the Raiders would jump out to a 3-1 lead in the top of the first third inning, as Le doubled down the left field line to score both Bosque and Jordan Skolmar. The Mariners would knot the game up in the bottom of the fourth after an RBI triple followed up by another Mariner single.
- Deadlocked 3-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth, Mitchell would work the Raiders pitching staff to load the bases, scoring the go-ahead run on a walk. The Raiders would swap pitchers to try and limit the damage but the Mariners rally rolled on, as the Red and White fell to Mitchell by a final score of 11-3.
