HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- Kellen Pate took the bump for the Red and White (6-8, 2-0 NACC) against the Cougars (8-8, 0-2 NACC) as the Raiders were able to jump out to a quick 1-0 lead in the very first inning after Christian Bosque came across on an AJ Le ground out. The Raiders would up their lead to 2-0 in the second as Charlie Claas slapped an RBI single to right field, allowing Joe Stried to score.
- Pate would allow just two runs in six innings of work as the Cougars made it 2-1 after scoring on a wild pitch. Adding some insurance runs, Le would single to bring Bosque in once more, as the Cougars would cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh.
- In the top of the eighth inning, Class would record another RBI single, bringing the MSOE lead to 4-2. The Raiders would get two innings of relief out of Caden Morton before handing the ball over to JJ Jackson, who earned the save in the Raiders first conference win of the season.
- Game Two
- The Raiders would go up in the first inning again, this time taking advantage of an error by the Cougars second baseman, allowing Bosque to score his third run of the day. After the Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the inning, MSOE would go up 3-2 in the top of the second after an RBI double from Jordan Skolmar and an RBI ground out by Camden Hoier.
- The Raiders would tack two more runs on in the third inning, as Stried recorded an RBI single before executing a successful double steal, allowing Le to steal home and up the MSOE lead to 5-2. The Cougars would once again pull within striking distance, cutting the Raiders lead to 5-4.
- The Raiders would bring 2 more runs across in the fifth, as a Stried single and a Skolmar sacrifice fly put the Red and White ahead 7-4 at the midway point of the game. The Raiders would continue to beat up the Cougar pitching staff, adding runs in the sixth and seventh, while Max Babich gave MSOE two shutout innings in relief, up 9-4 heading into the eighth. After allowing the first two batters of the inning to reach, Babich would retire the next three, escaping from the jam unscathed for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen. The Raiders would hand the ball over Eric Williamson in the ninth, as he closed out the sweep for the Red and White, who are winners of three straight.
