HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- After a scoreless first, Dominican (11-16, 4-10 NACC) got the first run on the board getting the bases loaded but only getting one in. MSOE (15-10, 10-2 NACC) answered in the bottom half when Charlie Claas landed one into left field to score JJ Jackson around from second. Joe Stried then gave the Raiders the lead in the next at-bat, singling up the middle to score Robert Erickson. The Stars had another bases loaded situation in the third getting a run in, but once again could only get one in to tie. AJ Le took the lead in a big way, blasting one over the left field fence to give the Raiders a 4-2 lead.
- The Raiders worked their magic on the basepaths in the fifth as Le and Jack Kalitowski read a passed ball perfectly to extend the lead. After Erickson knocked in another run, he stole home a few batters later with chaos on the field to make it 8-2. The Stars cut their deficit with two runs in the sixth, but Kalitowksi matched it to drive in Le and Jordan Skolmar in the bottom half of the inning. The Stars played long ball in the top of the seventh to add two more runs, but miscues from them in the bottom of the eighth gave the Raiders cushion when an error scored Stried to seal it.
- Game Two
- The Stars wasted no time once again to get on the board when a two-run homerun in the top of the first gave them the lead right away. Once again, the Raiders matched when Stried, Bosque, and Kalitowski to take a 3-2 lead. Bosque and Skolmar continued to add to it, driving in runs in the second before Erickson added another in the third to make it 6-2.
- The Raiders got some help from the Stars with their two runs in the fifth, scoring on balks to make it 8-2. The Stars were finally able to get back on the scoreboard in the sixth with two runs, but Le matched those in the bottom half when he ripped a two run double to score Skolmar and Bosque. The Raiders with hopes of getting the game to finish early put four runs up in the seventh with Quinn Zills racing home with bases load for the final run.
