Raiders Drop Non-Conference Action to the Buccaneers

BELOIT, Wis. – With a quick recovery after yesterday's marathon of a double-header, the MSOE baseball team found themselves in another high-scoring contest against Beloit College in non-conference action. After taking a four-lead midway through, the Buccaneers stormed back giving the Raiders their second-straight loss.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 12

Beloit - 13

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • AJ Le got things started in the top of the first with a single up the middle to score Joe Stried before Jake Franks hit a sacrifice fly to score Jordan Skolmar to give MSOE (16-11, 11-3 NACC) a 2-0 lead quickly. Beloit (16-10, 5-4 Midwest) answered in a massive way, scoring six in the bottom. The Raiders answered in the second as Stried and Christian Bosque drove in a run each while Robert Erickson scored on in the third, cutting the deficit 6-5.
  • Despite the Buccaneers putting up two more runs in the bottom of the third, Le got things rolling in the top of the fourth with an infield single scoring Stried and Bosque before the Raiders loaded the bases with Franks walking in the tying run and Erickson walking in the go-ahead run. Franks helped extend the lead later in the inning, stealing home with chaos on the basepaths making it 11-8. After a scoreless fourth, Bosque continued to build up the lead in the fifth, doubling down the left field line to score Claas.
  • The Buccaneers didn't shy away, scoring four in the bottom half to tie things at 12 and then took the lead in the sixth to make it 13-12. The Raiders were shut down the final three innings, only getting one baserunner on but couldn't get across.
